Dr. Amanda Ortiz L.Ac, DAOM
I’ve always been a sensitive soul and naturally called to art in many forms — drawing, painting, writing, music, and poetry. Creative expression and the inner experience of being an artist has brought me closer to nature, spirituality, and the innate part of me that exists to nurture and take care of others.
I was born and raised in the South Bay of Los Angeles. My upbringing was fully immersed in my family’s Mexican-American and New Mexican cultural roots. Growing up, I had a hard time with my mixed identity, as I’m also half White. To this day, I don’t speak Spanish, even though it’s been around me longer than I can remember.
For most of my life, I struggled greatly with anxiety. Coping with that helped me find the light in healing through health in wellness, as well as a genuine interest in helping others do the same. At a crossroads of deciding to study art or writing, I unexpectedly found myself walking down the unknown path of becoming an acupuncturist.
I’ve carved out a home for my practice in the heart of Venice, CA. If you see me at my office or out as a local, you’ll almost always find me in my casual style and a pair of Vans. I offer therapeutic treatments that are rooted in Chinese medicine, guided by touch and intuition, and centered around the patient in front of me at that moment in time.
The art of practicing Chinese medicine is beautiful, transformative, soulful, energetic, and very personal. There’s such purpose, intention, interconnection, and sentiment behind it — much like the process of breathing life into a creative idea. I love that it’s both philosophical and scientific, with a holistic perspective of the body and nature.
As a practitioner, I hope to give my patients the support that they need to feel better and find healing in my care. I integrate various techniques to relax the body, calm the mind, and ground the spirit. I’m deeply grateful and honored to treat each and every person that comes to me — thank you so much for allowing me to stand beside you. ♡ .
